Praise the Lord in His sanctuary: praise Him in the firmament of His power.

O God, who didst allay the flames of fire for the three young men, grant in Thy mercy that we Thy servants may not be consumed by the flames of vice.
Direct our actions, we beseech Thee, O Lord, by Thy inspiration and further them with Thy continual help; that every prayer and work of ours may begin always from Thee and through Thee likewise be ended.
Grant us, O Lord, we beseech Thee, to extinguish within us the flames of vice, even as Thou didst strengthen blessed Laurence to overcome his fiery torments. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.


Prayer of St. Thomas Aquinas
Grátias tibi ago, Dómine sancte, Pater omnípotens, ætérne Deus, qui me peccatórem, indígnum fámulum tuum, nullis meis méritis, sed sola dignatióne misericórdiæ tuæ satiáre dignátus es pretióso córpore et sánguine Fílii tui, Dómini nostri, Jesu Christi. Prayer of St. Thomas Aquinas
I give Thee thanks, O holy Lord, Father almighty, eternal God, who hast vouchsafed, not for any merit of mine, but solely out of the condescension of Thy mercy, to satisfy me a sinner, Thine unworthy servant, with the precious Body and Blood of Thy Son our Lord Jesus Christ. I pray that this holy Communion be not to me a condemnation unto punishment, but a saving plea unto forgiveness. May it be unto me the armour of faith and the shield of good will. May it be the emptying out of my vices, the extinction of all concupiscence and lust, the increase of charity and patience, of humility and obedience, and of all virtues; a strong defense against the snares of all enemies, visible and invisible; the perfect quieting of all my evil impulses, both fleshly and ghostly; a firm cleaving unto Thee, the one true God; and a pledge of a blessed destiny. And I beseech Thee, that Thou wouldst vouchsafe to bring me, a sinner, to the ineffable banquet, where Thou, with Thy Son and the Holy Ghost, art to Thy saints true light, fullness of content, eternal joy, gladness without alloy and perfect bliss. Prayer of St. Bonaventure

Prayer of St. Bonaventure
Pierce, O most sweet Lord Jesus, my inmost soul with the most joyous and healthful wound of Thy love, with true, serene, and most holy apostolic charity. That my soul may ever languish and melt with love and longing for Thee, that it may yearn for Thee and faint for Thy courts, and long to be dissolved and to be with Thee. Grant that my soul may hunger after Thee, the bread of angels, the refreshment of holy souls, our daily and supersubstantial bread, having all sweetness and savour and every delight of taste; let my heart ever hunger after and feed upon Thee, upon whom the angels desire to look, and may my inmost soul be filled with the sweetness of Thy savour; may it ever thirst after Thee, the fountain of life, the fountain of wisdom and knowledge, the fountain of eternal light, the torrent of pleasure, the richness of the house of God; may it ever compass Thee, seek Thee, find Thee, run to Thee, attain to Thee, mediate upon Thee, speak to Thee, and do all things to the praise and glory of Thy name, with humility and discretion, with love and delight, with ease and affection , and with perseverance unto the end; mayest Thou alone be ever my hope, my entire assurance, my riches, my delight, my pleasure, my joy, my rest and tranquillity, my food, my refreshment, my refuge, my help, my wisdom, my portion, my possession and my treasure, in whom may my mind and my heart be fixed and firm and rooted immovably henceforth and forever. Indulgenced Prayer Before a Crucifix

Another Prayer

I beseech Thee, most sweet Lord Jesus Christ, grant that Thy Passion may be to me a power by which I may be strengthened, protected and defended. May Thy wounds be to me food and drink, by which I may be nourished, inebriated and overjoyed. May the sprinkling of Thy Blood be to me an ablution for all my sins. May Thy death prove to me life everlasting, and Thy cross be to me an eternal glory. In these be my refreshment, my joy, my preservation and sweetness of heart. Who livest and reignest world without end. Amen.

Oratio ad B. Mariam Virg.

O María, Virgo et Mater sanctíssima, ecce suscépi dilectíssimum Fílium tuum, quem immacuáto útero tuo concepísti, genuísti, lactásti, atque suavíssimis ampléxibus strinxísti. Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary

O Mary, most holy Virgin and Mother, behold, I have received thy most beloved Son, Jesus Christ, whom thou concievedst in thy spotless womb, bore, nursed, and held with thy sweet embraces. Behold Him at whose sight thou wilt rejoice and be filled with every delight. With love I humbly return Him and offer Him to thee, to hold once more, to love with all thy heart, and to offer to the Holy Trinity as our supreme act of worship for thy honor and glory and for my good and the good of all the world. Therefore I ask thee, most loving Mother, to ask God for forgiveness of all my sins, abundant graces to help me serve Him more faithfully, and for that final grace that I may praise Him with thee for ever and ever. Amen.

Oratio ad S. Joseph

Vírginum custos et pater, sancte Joseph, cujus fidéli custódiæ ipsa Innocéntia Christus Jesus et Virgo vírginum María commíssa fuit; te per hoc utrúmque caríssimum pignus Jesum et Maríam óbsecro et obtéstor, ut me, ab omni immundítia præservátum, mente incontamináta, puro corde et casto córpore Jesu et Maríæ semper fácias castíssime famulári. Prayer to St. Joseph

Guardian of virgins and father, Saint Joseph, to whose faithful custody Innocence itself, Christ Jesus, and Mary, Virgin of virgins, was committed; I pray and beseech thee by each of these dear pledges, Jesus and Mary, that, being preserved from all uncleanness, I may with spotless mind, pure heart, and a chaste body, ever serve Jesus and Mary most chastely all the days of my life. Amen.

In whose honor Mass was celebrated

O Saint N., in whose honor I have offered the bloodless sacrifice of the Body and Blood of Christ, grant by thy powerful intercession with God, that, by the utility of this mystery, I may obtain the merits of the passion and death of this same Christ our Savior, and with its frequency come to salvation.
